Hewlett Packard Officejet J5780 All-In-One Laser Printer

The HP OfficeJet J5780 is an affordable All-In-One color laser printer which combines a color laser printer, a fax machine and a scanner. The J5780 is rather space efficient compared to other more bulky similar devices and build-quality is satisfactory. The controls are assorted at the top of the machine according to function which makes operation generally simple.
The J5780 should mostly appeal to home-office owners being most suitable for the demands of an office with light printing needs. The lack of Ethernet connectivity and Card Reader make it less fitting for both networked offices and general home usage. Sadly unlike many other competing devices the J5780 lacks media card slots and a built-in duplexer.

Input/output needs are served by two trays, the lower of which holds 100 sheets of regular paper and has a pullout arm accommodate longer sheets. Toner is provided via a two-tank system: one black and one tricolor. For improved photo printing the black cartridge can be swapped for a tricolor photo tank. Refill tanks come in both regular and high-capacity versions. Using cost efficient high-capacity tanks black prints cost about 5c per page and color prints about 22c per page. Performance wise J5780 is mediocre both when it comes to print times and overall print quality which lacks mostly in text definition. Scanning performance is quite good for color scans but merely reasonable for grayscale. Overall this device does not rise above mediocrity.
